IPL and Sr cricketers

Filed under: Uncategorized — rohitbharadwajg @ 10:26 am

Now that IPL is going to end, we can pin down on the names to watch out for in future. Mentioning that, I am aware that T20 would in no way match 50 over cricket and we cannot come to the conclusion that these young players are worth replacing the senior cricketers.
So some of the players who I think will make into the international arena or can be our future prospects are
1) Abhishek Nayar: The young lad representing Mumbai Indians is certainly one Bevan in the making. He has both the hard hitting and technical hitting which is important in the present competitive cricket. Hope he performs in domestic cricket and will one day represent India.
2) Venugopal Rao: The not-so-young guy, representing DC also showed great skill. The fact that was that he is considered as test player and not even suitable for 50 over game is a sort of revolution in IPL. The way he has hit sixes show that he also has the character to play some good strokes (in most cases he was technically sound too) and this time if he make into the international arena, I think he would do justice to his selection.
3) Manpreet Gony: I know that he has so much road ahead to move before reaching the international arena but his body build will certainly send some terror waves into the batsmen’s mind before he gonna bowl to them. So if he can try and bowl some good deliveries, deliveries worth his build, along with his hard hitting capabilities, is one to watch out for.
4) S Badrinath: He is one who played some sensible innings along with Dhoni and played a major role in making CSK reach semis. He also has a good technique and can be considered as future prospect.
5) Shikhar Dhawan, Vidyut, Saha are some other who showed a glimpse of their character and are future hope for Indian Cricket.
Now coming to the main aim of writing this post, now that semi-final berths are confirmed, the media in India, will start blaming the Senior cricketers (Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly ) to retire from cricket as they have become “OLD”. I don’t know how the hell they confirm a cricketer to be old if he is playing some good cricket. The class which they show in their batting is one stage apart and no one can match them. Saying that I accept that they are not as active on the field as robin uthappa or Rohit Sharma but saving 30 odd runs is not important than scoring.
Filling the team with youth doesn’t make any sense if they don’t perform. Then the critics say that they should be given a chance and I am strict supporter that a single chance cannot determine one’s talent. So all I want to say is that lets follow some rotation procedure so that the big3 play the important and big matches and youth are given equally fair number of opportunities to prove themselves.
PS: This post has come out of my fear of media again starting to blame Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly for the fate of MI, RC and KKR.
PS1: Rohit Sharma has shown why he is regarded in such a high way and as he is already into the international arena, I didn’t mention him separately.
PS2: I supported MI and losing such close matches really disappointed me.
PS3: It is always a worthy experience to watch sachin perform and the way he played shows his class.
PS4: Interestingly and unbelievably Dravid’s strike rate was terrific when he played and the way he hit those sixes, oh God what happened to Dravid and where was this Dravid for the past 12 odd years 😉
PS5: Now I am not supporting any team and my support would depend on my fantasy team 😛
PS6: It’s a post after long long long time. So it might not be clear. So will come up with something solid next time. 😀
PS7: Please media don’t start blaming the big3.
PS8: IPL is huge hit, this everyone knows 🙂 but please Modi don’t do it twice per year, it would really harm some good test cricket, I believe.
PS9: Gambhir-Sehwag, Sachin-Jayasurya, Marsh-Hopes were terrific to watch and the co-ordination between them was awesome. 🙂
